Prominent Spanish audiovisual agents from public television stations such as RTVE, TV3, IB3, A Punt TV and the production companies Portocabo, Bambú Producciones, Plano a Plano and Belle Films met in the municipality of Calvià with 12 creators to evaluate their series and film projects.

Twelve projects have had the opportunity to be analyzed, both in pitch format and in one-to-one meetings, by an outstanding panel of Spanish fiction professionals. It should be noted that these projects have a strong feminine and Balearic accent. Seven of the 12 projects selected, more than 58%, are led or co-led by women. More than 58% of the selected projects are by creators from Mallorca and 25% of the selected projects are by creators from Ibiza.
Important names on the Spanish audiovisual scene such as Pepe Coira, creator of the successful series “Hierro”, Alfonso Blanco, executive producer of the series “Hierro” or Mar Díaz, Executive Producer of RTVE Series, among others, assessed the viability of these 12 series and feature film projects – out of more than 80 submitted – at first hand. that have made it to the final selection of the “Fiction Mallorca Pitch”.

This first edition of the Fiction Mallorca Pitch, sponsored by Andreu Fullana Studios, with the collaboration of the City Council of Calvià and the support of the Fundació Mallorca Turisme, the Mallorca Film Commission and the participation of CIFP Juníper Serra, closed yesterday very satisfactorily for organizers, sponsors, creators and invited professionals:
Alfonso Blanco, executive producer of the series Hierro the recent winner of the Forqué Award, declared that “Supporting this type of initiative is always positive. It has been a good experience, now we have to consolidate the format for future editions. I hope to return with more time and enjoy the island”. Mar Díaz, on the other hand, also confessed that events such as these are very important as they help to build relationships of trust between industry professionals in all senses between broadcasters, production companies and creators”.
On behalf of the City Council of Calvià, one of the institutions that collaborated in the organization of the event, the mayor of the municipality, Alfonso Rodríguez, admitted at the inauguration last Monday, December 13th that Calvià is committed to continue in this line of professional meetings of the audiovisual sector to make the municipality a hub of audiovisual and cultural production in the villages, which can also become potential filming locations, both for the richness of its outdoor scenery and its accommodation capacity (as it has more than 60,000 tourist places).
